McGovern & Co. is an American Heritage brand born out of love for our National Parks. A month long road trip with a friend in 1990 started my love affair with road trips and the beauty of our National Parks. Looking up into the starry night from our little dome tent in the Grand Canyon is a moment that changed me forever and became the inspiration for everything to come.
During the next 12 years, my family and I explored the National Parks as much as we could, sharing our love of the outdoors and nature with our children. Along the way we started a collection of free park maps. In 2012 I set out to decorate our house with artistic maps of our most treasured places. I was unable to find what I was looking for and that became the inspiration I needed to create my own. Our first beautifully rendered vintage style map of Grand Teton National Park was designed, printed, framed, and happily hung up in our new home. It got rave reviews from our friends who asked me to make more for them. As a way to say thanks to the places that had given us so much enjoyment, I sent an additional map to Grand Teton National Park as a gift. They liked it so much they encouraged me to come exhibit at the Public Lands Alliance Conference. The rest is history. We sold out of all of our maps at that first show and started using our popular designs in innovative ways on shirts, mugs, bandanas, socks, blankets, scarves, bags, and beyond.
We are now proudly partnered with all of the National Parks and each of our designs are approved by an interpretive National Park ranger for authenticity. We are a company proudly founded and run by an all women team. We support and give back to organizations that preserve the parks and other wild places while helping to introduce inner city children to the wonders of nature. We are a company that honors the places we love with products that keep us connected to them.
We know if we can keep the parks and memories close to people’s heart, that can also translate into building a growing community of stewards with a passion for our wild places.
We have committed 1.2% of our profits to select programs for their commitment to educating and inspiring the next generation of explorers and stewards: Glacier Institute, Grand Teton Association, Big City Mountaineers, National Park Foundation, Open Outdoors For Kids, and Public Lands Alliance Conference.
