Yellowstone National Park is the first national park in the United States, which is located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. It became a national park on March 1, 1872, and opened to the public to enjoy its unique hydrothermal and geologic features. As a result of Yellowstone's 2.2 million acre size, visitors to the park can spot wildlife in an intact ecosystem, explore geothermal areas that have half of the world's active geysers, and view geologic wonders such as the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River.
